Let’s say they’re not brothers
anymore. That’s right, they’re not brothers, they’re just one guy, and
he knows you, and he’s talking to you, but you’re in pain and you can-
not understand him.

We’re supposed to be something else.
I know you. What, Sashi picked Swesson? Shocker, I know. But it’s more than just my total balls-to-the-wall love of this particular AU. I just absolutely adore that, in any situation, they are just drawn to each other by some unnatural connection. Like in In My Time of Dying, Sam could feel Dean’s spirit. And they always manage to find each other no matter how lost or well hidden the other is. I guess that’s one of the perks of being soulmates.

[In the dreams], we were friends. More like brothers, really.
The reason I love this episode so much is right here. Even though they have no history, no memories of hunting, and no reasons to fall in together…they do anyway. The corporate douchebag and the tech support drone are inexplicably drawn to each other and to the mystery of Sandover. They fight side by side in perfect synch. It’s seamless, even though it shouldn’t work at all.
That is Sam and Dean. That is “soulmates.” No matter which world, no matter which people, they will always, always find each other. And Sam Wesson is right: he does know Dean Smith. Better than anyone else in the entire world.
